When we were traveling in the car, Ed and I asked Vincent some questions to Vincent about Dominic and autism. Below are his responses to our questions.
What is the most challenging part of having a brother with autism?
The most challenging part of having a brother with autism is the surprising that come with it. We can’t say we are just going to do something out of nowhere and expect him to be fine with it.
What is the best part of having a brother with autism?
The best part is how he can make me a better person because he has taught me to have more patience. I am not going to lie, I also love the DAS pass at Disney. (true honesty from an 11 year old)
What is your wish for the future for Dominic?
My biggest wish for Dominic is that he could live on his own and be successful.
If you could change one thing, what would it be?
If I could change one thing, I wish we wouldn’t have to preview so much with him.
What is your best memory with Dominic?
My best memory with Dominic is when I was playing Mario Kart and Dominic wanted to try it on his own and he let me teach him.
What do you wish people knew?
I wish people knew that he is a lot of fun when you get to know him.
What has helped you the most with understanding autism and why?
When you guys talk to me about things because you listen to my questions and answer them honestly. That helps me a lot.
