Dear Teacher We Love,
We know you realize how important you are to our family but we are not sure you will ever truly know. You were the first teacher to see our son the way we do. At times, you see him even better than us. You have this unconditional love for him and refuse to give up. You were our rock the first time we heard he had autism and you were a shoulder for us to cry on when we needed it. You were and still remain his biggest cheerleader and fan. You tell us that he has always had your back and always will. We feel the same way about you in his life. You always tell us that you will dance with him at his wedding and that just melts our hearts. What a dream that would be.
You could have pushed him away during his toughest years. You could have lost faith in him. You could have thought he was too much but you saw the whole child. You saw his loving and caring personality. You saw the boy that needed extra help but wanted to succeed. You saw a family that was willing to work with you and listen to your advice. We had and still have a deep trust for each other.
Our hope is for every family to have that one teacher that will love their child the way you love our son. You come to his special events and go to trainings to better understand him. You are protective of him whenever someone new comes into our circle and are quick to make sure everyone knows his needs and plan. You will let him struggle but you would never let him fail. You challenge him to do better but you would never put out his fire. You have a way of making him feel safe and loved. The way he looks at you and the way you look at him is priceless. I am not sure we could ask for a stronger bond.
We want you to know that we love you and thank God for putting you in our lives. We need you now and forever so we can have you by our side through this journey. We thank you for never giving up on us and for always seeing him the way we do. Thank you for making us feel safe and for making our son a part of your life.
