Our first visit to Disney we decided to go to the Visa Cardholder Photo Meet and Greet in Epcot. It was our first time visiting and we were still new to some of the aspects to the parks and protocols. When we first made it to the line, we noticed that there was no way Dominic would be able to wait to visit the characters. There was this kind cast member in the front of the line and Ed approached her (Sue) to ask if there was a way to get a return time to come back. We never mind waiting our turn, it is just very difficult for Dominic to stand in line for extended periods of time.
We were shocked and amazed, when she kindly asked the others in the line if they minded if we went in next. We were in tears because of the kindness of the cast member but also because of the other guests who had patiently waited. We hugged her and thanked her and told her she will never know what her kindness meant to us.
Our next trip a year later, Sue was in the same Visa character spot. We approached her and she had balloons hanging on her belt loop. Picture Up the movie, this is what it looked like. We reminded her of how kind she was to us the year before and she said she remembered us. She said lets do that again for you. We said no because Dominic was able to wait this year and the line was much shorter. We timed it much better this time and we just wanted her to know what her generosity really meant to us. We then asked what the balloons meant and she said it was her anniversary with Disney. She took pictures of us to show to her daughter. This was priceless.
The following year, we took both sets of grandparents to Disney for Christmas. When we were waiting in line at the new Visa spot in Epcot, Ed was concerned she wouldn’t be at the new venue. We really wanted our parents to meet Sue because we think of her often. When we made our way around the corner, she was there greeting us. She remembered us and then we introduced her to our parents. We were all hugging and crying like we were one big happy family! She is family now even though we only see her once a year, she is family in our book.
We just returned from Disney a little over a week ago, and you can bet that we made sure we saw Sue. She even told us that she was wondering where we had been a few weeks before. This was amazing because this meant we made a little impact on her too.
When people ask why we love Disney so much, I think of moments like these. I think of all the cast members, friends, and people we meet there. I think of all the positive experiences and love that people share at the most magical place on Earth. Disney truly is where dreams come true. It is a place where people go out of their way to be kind to one another and to celebrate being a kid. What is more priceless than unconditional love and support of everyone.
